The Ad Gentes Skills Training Center

is being built in Shiroro in the Catholic Diocese of Minna, Nigeria.

Minna developed into a diocese in 1973 and today constitutes 30 parishes and quasi parishes spread over an area of about 56,000 square kilometers. The Shiroro region is a rural agricultural community of subsistence farmers in which there are approximately 60 underdeveloped villages. Villages are characterized by the absence of schools, basic health care and utilities. Most families are unable to  afford to send their children to schools, or are too far from government-run schools. Villages have large populations of children and uneducated youth. In some places unemployment and lack of education fosters an enviornment were conflict, hostility, instability and poverty thrives.
